Within a short period of time, I once again admire the solidarity of Albanians in difficult times, at a time when no one is immune to nature, much like in the November earthquake and now in a global pandemic. Just like 40 years ago in Poland the independent workers' unions "Solidarnost" were born, which a decade later led to the overthrow of Communism, I also see today a tremendous solidarity of my dear friends-Albanians, a solidarity that will undoubtedly bring victory over the pandemic. The coordinated action on behalf of the superior goals by the president, the prime minister, the government, the opposition and the whole of society makes me content. Nobody has immunity in this war. In this war against the common and invisible enemy, I express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the pandemic, and at the same time I urge everyone to respect with utmost determination these harsh measures so that we can get out of this war with as little loss as possible.
We bow with deep honor to the titanic, superhuman efforts of doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers and all healthcare personnel, but also to all those who guarantee us the smooth continuation of the nation-wide quarantine - suppliers of energy and the internet, pharmacists, markets, banks and the administration. I will not forget those who halted our latitude in the beginning - the state police, the army, the local police. A big thumbs up for journalists who tirelessly inform us about the dynamics of the situation.
THIS SOLIDARITY WILL BE NECESSARY AFTER WINNING THIS WAR AS WELL, IN THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE WORLD WITHOUT COVID-19.
The darkness of the pandemic obscured not only the brightness of early spring, but also the light of the future which was built this week with the decision to open Albania's negotiations with the European Union. The decision, which to me has been a bit delayed, is the most just and fully deserved decision for Albania. I congratulate all those who worked for this day for years, this success belongs to all Albanians! You are already on the highway that will lead you to the ultimate goal, towards EU membership. On this road you will have to overcome all obstacles to get closer to the final destination. With your solidarity as Albanians, take care of yourself in these times. With our solidarity as humans, let us take care of ourselves.
Always in the spirit of Poland-Albania Solidarity, last week, as part of Operation Lot do Domu! (Fly home!), a joint venture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the airline PLL LOT made it possible for the repatriation of Albanian nationals in Poland and Polish nationals in Albania.
