Albanian-Dutch artist features ballet pictures at Hague

TIRANA, Oct. 13 - Albanian-Dutch artist Altin Kaftira, a former principal dancer with the Dutch National Ballet in The Netherlands, has opened a photo exhibition at the Albanian embassy in the Hague, The Netherlands, where he is showcasing some of the best of the Anna Pavlovna Ballet Photo contest held in Rome last September.

The retired dancer who now works as a film and photo producer with the Dutch National Ballet where he was the principal dancer from 2000 to 2007, considers himself privileged to work on a daily basis with dancers and capture in video and photo their work.

"In today's world, where millions of people (including many friends of mine) live in unstable living conditions, I consider myself blessed and a fortunate person to be where I am and do what I do: work for this institution!” says Kaftira.

“I have the pleasure to work on a daily basis with superstar dancers and have their trust to capture in video and photo their work (including my beautiful wife). I am very proud and feel privileged of the people that I work with in the offices, who help me produce work like this one. It makes me a happy person who looks forward to go to work every day," he adds.

Adia Sakiqi, Albania's ambassador to The Netherlands, says "the art gallery at the Albanian embassy is only a small effort, a modest investment which creates the conditions that wonderful artworks such as these have a home and even temporarily 'feel at home.'"

The exhibition at the art gallery of the Albanian Embassy at The Hague will remain open until November 11.
