TIRANA, Sept. 22 – Dozens of movies from around the world will compete in this year’s 11th edition of the International Human Rights Film Festival in Tirana. The festival scheduled for Sept. 26 to Oct. 1 will open with “Fire at Sea,” the Italian Golden Bear winner at the 2016 Berlin Film Festival.
Albania is participating in the festival with “The Lock” short film by Bujar Alimani. Housewarming, an experimental film by Israeli directors Effi Weiss and Amir Borenstein featuring Vlora’s Cipini folk ensemble, also has an Albanian background.
“House Warming is a musical fable, the story of a contemporary Goldilocks and no bears.”
French director of Albanian origin Liria Begeja will be represented with the “Far from the barbarians” feature film.
The festival organized by the Marubi film school will also screen a considerable number of films at the Central State Film Archive.
The festival includes in its program documentary and fiction movies dealing with human rights that are sensitive especially for the Albanian society. This event brings to the public’s attention similar experiences from all over the world and by using image as its tool, the impact is stronger and direct.
