TIRANA, April 2 – Asllan Dogjani and Xhovalin Gadeli, two Socialist lawmakers, have abandoned the party after learning they would not likely be reelected based on the positions set for them on the lists by party leader Edi Rama.
Dogjani had long been in a conflict with the party leader, Edi Rama, over the nomination of the candidates for the forthcoming June 23 polls.
Rama set a former prosecutor Vexhi Mucmata as the main candidate for the region there sparking a strong reaction from Dogjani.
Dogjani came out to the media to make known his decision Tuesday immediately after Rama declared the offer to the Socialist Movement for Integration, now part of the governing coalition, to become part of the opposition coalition for the polls.
