Raiffeisen Bank robbed by masked man in Albania

TIRANA, Nov 22 – An armed masked person robbed Raiffeisen Bank Albania taking some 800,000 leks but causing no injuries to its staff or customers.
The masked person Friday midday entered its branch downtown capital Tirana threatening a cashier and robbing an undisclosed amount of money, according to a spokeswoman.
The person managed to escape before security forces went to the bank.
In December 2003, Raiffeisen Bank bought the state-owned Savings Bank of Albania and holds more than half of the country’s savings.
Raiffeisen Bank Albania is the largest bank in the country and occupies the number one position on all major key performance indicators with its asset base close to 2 billion Euros.
The loan portfolio has grown from zero in 2004 to outstandings of 480 million Euros.
Raiffeisen Albania, focused on private individual, SME and corporate markets, invested a lot in branch upgrades and computerization.
