TIRANA, Dec. 1 – Police reported they had arrested eight officials and former officials of a commune near Tirana and charged them with corruption on property issues. Eight top officials of the Kashar commune, located in an area businesses use between Tirana and port city of Durres, were arrested last Friday and accused of falsifying documents on land ownership and earning illegal money out of their sales. The officials included existing heads of the commune and others previously in the top posts. They were accused of abuse of posts, falsifying documents, deceit and also illegal weapon possession.
